Inclusion: Integrated Co-Teaching & Related Services
MSTA is an inclusive educational community, providing support and enrichment for our student body. MSTA offers all services required by a student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or 504 Plan as well as a wide range of academic intervention services.
NYC Lab Middle School has a dedicated team of professionals to assist with the special educational needs of its students. All related service professionals partner directly with students’ teachers to ensure appropriate academic accommodations. We also offer a number of other academic and social emotional supports including: Academic Intervention Services (AIS), peer tutoring, at risk counseling, and several other structured intervention programs.
If you have questions about your child’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) please reach out directly to your child’s classroom teachers. If you are interested in having your child evaluated for an IEP or have questions about the IEP process please contact our School Psychologist (link school directory). If you have questions about the 504 process, would like to apply for a 504 or have questions about your child’s 504 contact our school’s 504 Coordinator, Dr. Marla Shelton
MSTA will send a warning letter home mid-year if a student is at risk of failing one or more classes for the year. Letters should not come as a surprise to a student or to his/her family. Students are regularly informed of their performance through tests and quizzes and NYCSA. Parents are encouraged to check folders, homework and google classroom regularly.
Our school takes great pride in supporting a diverse set of learners. We provide Academic Intervention Services based on student need. Please reach out to Assistant Principals Jennifer Privitera and Herminio Rosado for any questions.
